The owner of The Candy Jar in Austin, Texas, Christine Messina holds a bachelor of business administration in marketing from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to her business pursuits, Christine Messina is a passionate supporter of the local arts community and donates regularly to ZACH Theatre. Established in 1932 as the Austin Civic Theatre, ZACH Theatre holds professional status with the Actors' Equity Association. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Based on the novel of the same name, this play follows a gifted 15-year-old math student who comes under suspicion for killing his neighbor's dog and the journey he undergoes to find the true culprit. The recipient of the 2015 Tony Award for Best New Play, it will run from January 31 to March 4 in the Topfer Theatre. 2. Sunday in the Park with George With performances in the Topfer Theatre from May 30 to June 24, this Pulitzer Prize-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, details the artistic works of Georges Seurat. 3. Goodnight Moon This lively musical is adapted from one of the most well-known children's books of all time. It includes tap-dancing bears and a constellation light show. The family-friendly production runs from March 2 to May 27 in the Kleberg Theatre.

Christine Messina oversees all operations at her Austin-based sweets shop. The Candy Jar offers several types of children’s birthday party packages that are built upon a base package. Base packages include a 90-minute party rental and provide up to 16 children with cotton candy, complimentary snowballs, or candy gift bags. To expand a party’s theme and activities, parents can select one of several additional packages. The Candy Crafts & Games package grants partygoers the chance to create one-of-a-kind art projects using sweet treats. These projects include candy-decorated frames and powder candy “sand” art bottles. This option carries a per-child fee alongside the base package cost, and parents can request a custom scavenger hunt for an additional cost. The Tea Party Package also carried a per-child fee in addition to the base price. As an extra add-on, a princess can act as the host of the party. This package provides snacks and tea sandwiches, including turkey and cheese sandwiches, vegetables and dip, and pink lemonade, and provides various candy-themed games for guests to enjoy. The Candy Jar also offers a Mad Science Party. This option is available through a partnership with Mad Science, a science enrichment provider in Austin, and grants guests the chance to make and take their own slime. The Boo Blue Cotton Candy or Dry Ice Bubbling Potion activities are add-ons for the Mad Science Party.
